On June 8, 2023, CCK-ISC hosted a joint workshop of the Department of Sinology of the Charles University and the Institute of Asian and Oriental Studies of the University of Zurich. The workshop related to the coordination and continuation of the joint Master’s programme course “Cultural Heritage in 20th Century China”, taught in the summer semester 2022/23 by teachers of both universities. The aim of the workshop was to evaluate this year’s experience with the pilot project and discuss the possibilities of its future development.

Post-doctoral researcher

Kateřina Gajdošová PhD., project title: Self and Agency from the Perspective of Early Chinese Texts (2023-2025) In her post-doctoral project, she proposes an alternative ontological framework for interpretation of early Chinese (excavated) texts. Drawing from the continental philosophy of process, she seeks to reformulate the categories of agent and action, to focus on the "locus of power" and "precursors of action", and to present the act of establishing a shared world as a value-laden endeavour.
