Mutual Aid or Offsets? — Chinese and Russian Influence Operations in the Japanese Information Space

Abstract: Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, China and Russia have strengthened their cooperation in influence operations in Japan. However, not only are there differences in their approaches, but they also occasionally spread conflicting propaganda. This is particularly evident regarding Taiwan. This presentation illustrates how that is the case.
